Carol Schram: More return to play details emerge; Canucks re-sign RFA Jalen Chatfield We've got some early numbers on potential roster sizes and taxi-squad details for the new NHL season, and the Canucks brought another player under contract on Wednesday with a one-year deal for RFA defenseman Jalen Chatfield.

Thanks Carol, great update.

Baertschi opting out again would be huge, especially with Ferland on LTIR.

All of a sudden there's a bit of cap space for?

If Beartschi and Ferland opt out(highly likely IMO) there is the money for Hoffman on a 1 year deal. One can only hope LE also opts out

No way Loui opts out of easy money. Hard no to Hoffman unless it's a 2 years max, team friendly deal.

I hope Benning won't foolishly spend any cap relief he gets from any opt-out,ltir or anything else that may come out of the return to play.
He needs to allow some of these kids to step up, or move on from them.

Thanks Carol.

So could hockey players be considered "essential", they aren't interacting with the public.

#21 Nils Hoglander is now 5-9-14 in his last 12 SHL games with a period to go. That is a PPG of 1.17. Thumbs up

He has done the above playing all games on the right wing.

We don't even know if he's going to be able to make the NHL right away let alone play first line, maybe pump the brakes a bit.

His current point totals convert to bottom 6 level scoring in the NHL.

Kuzma also says that the plan is for main rosters will be expanded from 23 to 26 players, with four additional players kept nearby on the taxi squad. I can't wait to see how the salary cap gets adjusted to compensate for those extra bodies.

I would guess that the cap goes up by $3M to allow 3 more players......however cap-heavy teams like Tampa could carry 21 or 22 players to start the season to circumvent that higher cap unlesss the NHL has that new cap only slide up with every player over the 23 player limit.
up to 23 players = $81.5M
24 players = $82.5M
25 players = $83.5M
26 players = $84.5M

Was it you who said if he played with Horvat he would get 40 assists next season?

Projecting the numbers, feels like it misses how the player actually plays the game.

Jesper Bratt went from a half a point per game in the Allsvenskan to a half a ppg in the NHL. I don't think anyone would have figured that.

So one of Miller or Pearson will get bumped down or traded when Hoglander steps into the top 6 next season?
